In the first hours, a doctor and his nurses become unexpected heroes as they work tirelessly to rescue those trapped beneath the General Hospital, a journalist reports on the disaster as she traverses the city, and a family attempts to reunite amidst the rubble.

Twenty-four hours have passed since Dr. Ángel was trapped under the rubble, and no one knows anything about him. Rescue efforts remain paralyzed by the government. Pepín and the students join the volunteers at the collapsed CONALEP, while Camila uncovers a dark secret involving the military. Meanwhile, the imminent aftershock looms as an increasingly pressing threat.
